About Me

After taking thousands of pictures, I’ve learned the power of imagery can not be quantified. It reminds, evokes, shapes, teaches, entertains, and motivates.

My professional career began in 1999 when I became a photojournalist in the Coast Guard. The camera allowed me access to otherwise elusive places and events. I spent a year in Hawaii, at which time I photographed the 2000 Rim of the Pacific Exercise, as well as a multi-agency effort to save the endangered Hawaiian monk seal. Documenting a lighthouse project brought me to Molokai Island’s Kaluapapa peninsula -- also the location of one of the few remaining leper colonies in the world. In 2001, I photographed the Presidential Inauguration in Washington D.C., and later traveled the West Coast, shooting stock images of personnel and equipment for the Coast Guard's photo database.

My photos have appeared in a number of print and electronic publications, most notably in National Geographic, and in the 2005 film The Guardian. In 2001, I received the Coast Guard’s Alex Haley award for excellence in photojournalism. In 2005-2006, I spent significant time traveling and shooting the natural beauty, architecture, and cultural details I found abroad. In 2007, I turned my attention to weddings, portraiture, and corporate work. I am currently available for a variety of projects, including weddings, events, portraits, and will negotiate worldwide assignments. I invite you to look through the galleries on my Web site and I welcome you to contact me if you think my visual perspective can serve your needs.
